Appledore Lifeboat was launched to fishing vessel 'Bruno of Sutton' who had ran aground on the East side of Lundy Island. The 3 crew members on-board had been removed by a RIB from the 'Pride Of Bristol' who was in the area at the time and was requested to assist.
RAF helicopter 169 from RNB Chivenor was tasked with a pump to ensure the vessel was not taking on water. When the Lifeboat arrived on scene, the 3 crew members of the 'Bruno' were taken ashore and handed over to members of Lundy Coastguard where they were given accommodation. The lifeboat then took up a mooring and waited for the tide to rise enough to re-float the vessel (some 3 hours!)
At approximately 07:00, 3 crew members were transferred back to the vessel to inspect it for water tight integrity. The vessel was then towed off the rocks and a pump from the Tyne Class lifeboat placed on board to help pump out water that had had entered the boat. After an inspection by the boats crew their engines were restarted and the boat was escorted back to Appledore, arriving at 1000 hrs.
Crew: Martin Cox, Keith Wilson, Gary Stanbury, Andrew Atkinson, + 2 others
Other assisting units: Lundy CRT, RAF Helo 169, Pride of Bristol.
