Assistance to schooner "Kathleen and May"
Swansea CG requested the launch of Appledore All-Weather Lifeboat to assist the Kathleen & May, a three masted, 30 metre, topsail schooner, which had attempted to secure a mooring near the lifeboat station. Her rudder had become fouled on the mooring line. Due to strong tide and lack of draught she was unable to free herself. The boarding boat was also used and the ALB stood by in attendance as a diver was lowered into the water to free the vessel. This was successful and the Kathleen & May successfully moored on the reserve RNLI mooring and sailed at approx 9am the following day.
